With the recent release of Performancing Firefox 1.3, we introduced the ability to localize our free, open source blog editor. I’m pleased to announce, that in partnership with Jeeran, the Middle East’s largest blogging service, our first localization is now available.
Thanks to a great deal of hard work from Jeeran’s Laith Zraikat, one of the Jeeran founding partners, and Jed Brown, Performancing’s lead XUL developer, the Arabic version of PFF is complete, including “right to left” support.
If you’re not familiar with Jeeran, some of their key features include:
- Supports users under their own domain names.
- Open API.
- Easy import of Blogger and Live Journal blogs among others.
- Large (and growing) community of regional and international blogger.
More Localizations to Follow…
Now that the framework is in place, i’ll be emailing all the kind folks who’ve offered to work on tranlations for:
- German
- French
- Dutch
- Italian
- Spanish
- Chinese and
- Turkish
Im sure there will be more to follow aswell. If you don’t see your language covered there, and you speak reasonable English, feel free to contact me at [email protected] and we’ll gratefully add you to the team!

Thanks Jed, Nick, and everyone. It was great working with renowned experts as yourselves. We look forward to collaborating on other projects in the future…
Thanks Omar,
I’ve got a ton of new volunteers for translations also, i WILL be emailing all of you back today, promise!
I think its great insight on behalf of performancing to also focus on the international aspect of the blogging phenomena. Anything that facilitates and encourages blogging on a worldwide scale is an effort worth taking! Will look forward to more collaboration..
