 xFolk Cloud v0.5 beta released

Submitted by webmissile on June 20, 2007 - 7:49pm in

Guys,

We have (as usual) been really busy around here, what with new releases and new tools, nobody is getting much sleep. First, I wanted to announce the new version of the xFolk Cloud Generator v0.5 (I think you’re gonna like it) … but we’ve also added some new tools. We also have some new alliances that continue to make us stronger.

I wasn’t going to do this but … here is a bit of a brain dump from the think factory here. We think that ‘Tagging’ is like ‘Candy Cigarettes’, A way to get people smoking/thinking ‘Classification Theory’, we know that the only real way to SEO nowadays is RELEVANCE RELEVANCE RELEVANCE, and there are just too many flaws in Tagging to ensure a lasting value. Semantic Inter-linking will most likely rule the day … like a localized phone book … you subscribe to the cloud and have your info on tap. If you don’t know about SIOC (semantic web) well, your reading the wrong Blog, best you find some SEO guru who will tell you that ‘on the page SEO’ is out and begging for links is ‘in’.

‘On the page’ is back stronger than ever - but perhaps not the way most SEO’s think - I won’t ‘give away the store’ here but it simply depends on what you are doing with your ‘on the page’ optimization, yes, Meta’s won’t get you very far anymore but if you are a client of ours - then you know how to optimize your ‘on the page’ so you are guaranteed participation in the ‘new web’.

Yes, it is a new web, the fixes are in to correct the failures of the past. I would be so bold as to say that search as we know it is a joke (and just getting funnier everyday). We do care about Organic Search for all the obvious reasons but we have always cared more about conversion and you just ain’t gonna convert someone who arrived by mistake.

I guess if you stay tuned to this channel I will continue to accidentally slip a bit of cutting edge Strategy … it seems none of the other SEO’s are talking about it … but things have changed so dramatically in this field, that you can just throw your old SEO howto books away.

We stay busy … so you can have a leisurely day.

Some theory behind the xFolk TagCloud Generator - relaXSEO.com

Folks,

It seems that a lot of people simply didn’t ‘get’ our last Web 2.0 SEO tool. So … I thought I would go into some of the theory behind it. First, We think that Pingerati and ‘decentralized tagging’ makes a great deal of sense, ping routing is a good way to deal with upgraded non-rss content, many sites like ours make a ton of changes to the HTML but we find that those are slow to propagate, while our blogs move fast over the web. The option is to go the feedburner route for your content and that is a good choice … If you have the kind of content that folks want to subscribe to. Now that might seem like a dumb comment … of course you need content where people want to subscribe; BUT what if you are reporting results/corrections of tests basically in realtime? Things like “oops, that didn’t work so well” or “whoa! this is a pretty good trial so far”. Unless you have never made a content mistake, you’ve seen your uncorrected content out there with no way to change it. While ping routing won’t let you change it, it is a better paradigm for those circumstances.

If you are one of many running around tagging your content to/for multiple sites then you know that it is a pain. That is why there is a rush from sites like onlywire and wink designed to help you multi-tag across many sites. Still xFolk and pingerati seem to us to handle this issue better.

Next, in old SEO, the idea was to keep your targeted keywords to a minimum, to keep the energy of that term high and not dilute it with other keywords. In decentralized or tagging in general, the more search terms you have, the more ways people can find your content and still be pretty sure it is what they are looking for.

The idea behind the xFolk - TagCloud generator is first, to make it easy to add (minimal) microformatting (xFolk) to your site, we suggest you use as many terms as you can (see the difference?).

Finally, it is one of the easiest TagCloud generators to use that we have seen if all you want is a pretty TagCloud to Web 2-a-fy your site. You get both great tools in one - and there is another added bonus if you just want to create simple tags for your site. Either we are ahead of our time or just insane, we don’t know yet.

 xFolk Tag generator

Another Web 2.0 SEO Innovation from RELAX SEO Services: The xFolk (Microformat or decentralized Tagging) TagCloud Generator.

The objective was to develop an easy way to xFolk enable web pages, while it is not necessarily difficult (after you have poured through pages of technical documentation) to implement decentralized Tagging, still you were left with nothing fancy - just tags that were invisible to most. This project resulted in an easy and beautiful way to enable Microformating (minimal) for your website.

All those silly icons at the bottom of this and most blog pages inspired us to investigate the xFolk project; why should we visit several Social Networking websites in order to get our ‘Socialmeters’ growing?

Decentralized Tagging didn’t just seem like a good idea, it was the only idea that really made any sense and that is what xFolk does.

We are busy working on other projects in support of the Microformat proposals because we believe those guys got it right. So for now, suffice it to say that our tool is a terrific way to get Web 2.0 (3.0?) ready.
