 WordPress and Drupal Compared—The Pro's and Cons of Each CMS

Should you use WordPress or Drupal for your next project—this is a common and fair question to ask. I have been using both content management systems, and both have their pro's and cons. Planning for your project's needs is critical in determining which CMS be sufficient.

Both content management systems are a pleasure to work with, but each one is better suited for certain demands. Overall, both WordPress and Drupal offer an amazing experience, but which one is right for you?

Follow-Up to Great comment battle "for CMS suggestions"

But the valuable content is coming from the commenting crowd. Most of them are talking about real life experiences with the many different CMS.

That CMS discussion looks like a great pool of CMS knowledge exchange.

What CMS do you use - and what does it do well or badly?

Paul Bradshaw from onlinejournalismblog.com also asks his readers what CMS to suggest.

I’ve been teaching my student journalists how to use the content management system for our new news website (more about that in a later post). We’re using Joomla - it does a lot, but it’s not exactly user-friendly, which ironically makes it a very good experience for anyone who’ll have to use newspaper CMS’s.

And this begs the question: what CMS do you use - and what does it do well or badly?

 Drupal 6.0 released

Yeah, another CMS has been updated to a new Version - this time it is Drupal 6.0.


 Drupal forms and Association (non-profit)

I just wanted to share with everyone that the Drupal software project has formed a non-profit organization to lead in fundraising, marketing and infrastructure. This should be a real boost for Drupal. Dries Buytaert's announcement tells the how and the why, and the Association has an official announcement and a press release (in several languages) as well. Oh, and did I mention that they're accepting donations?
