What Does Success Mean To You

Submitted by Jeff Chandler on July 14, 2008 - 11:30am in

This post is part of a series of posts called Water Cooler Monday. Every Monday from here on out, I'll be publishing thoughts and topics of discussion throughout the day. If you have a topic or post idea to discuss around the water cooler, be sure to get in contact with us.,

One day, as I was sitting outside in my chair enjoying the weather, I began to think about what success meant to me. Thoughts of what might be considered a success started to wander through my mind such as: Would my blog be a success if it reached the Digg front page? What if my blog receives double digit comments on every post? As I started to figure out what would qualify as a success, I began to realize that what I thought was a success could be seen as a failure in someone else's eyes. Thus, there may be a definition for the word in the dictionary, but it's true meaning is different for every blogger.

Proof That You Don't Have to Write on a Daily Basis to Be a Success

Submitted by James Mowery on July 11, 2008 - 9:39pm in

Think Simple Now—Tina Sue really has perfected the art of infrequent and successful blogging. Previously, she used to write around two articles per week, but now she writes around a single article per week. However, all of her content is absolutely phenomenal. It is very well written and presented. She also has a great blog design that I can see is effective at giving her traffic things to do on her site other than simply leaving after they are done reading an article. The fascinating thing is that I am interested in very little of what she writes about, but it so written beautifully that I just have to read more. If that isn't a sign of amazing writing, I don't know what is.

If you really want to be successful online...

Submitted by Ryan Caldwell on February 5, 2008 - 4:25pm in

... get ready to dig in and be persistent.

That's the key. To be successful online you need to have the persistence of a rat terrier who's trying to dig under the neighbor's fence.

A few months ago, Performancing decided to try an experiment. As experts, we know what works and what doesn't. So we put together a bunch of professional services that we would want to use.

This was a risk. Most people are looking for quick fixes. Even in corporate America, you'd be surprised by the vast number of paid professionals who are more impressed by a short term digg-bait that sends 30k visitors (with zero conversion) versus a nice, steady growth in search engine referrals (which actually convert).

 Happiness Is Making Blogging Progress

Submitted by davidlind on December 12, 2007 - 5:08pm in

How can I say that I have made blogging progress? How can I say that my blog is much better than it was a week ago? I have a new template but so what!

I just know. In my heart I know it is true. And I can predict that an objective stranger would think the same thing.

Every once in awhile you move ahead in life if you keep working at it. Maybe you get a promotion after years of trying. Or you meet someone who changes your life. Or you discover you enjoy doing something you had never tried before. And you enjoy it so much you work it into your daily routine.

I have just had one of those moments. And thank you for sharing it with me.

Make a New Friend Every Day: The other key to success?

Submitted by Ryan Caldwell on November 28, 2007 - 5:40pm in

If you participated in the Performancing Treasure Hunt, then you know that the answer was: "Make a new friend every day"

At Performancing, we really believe that this is one of the keys to online success. Reach out, make friends, exchange favors, network...on a daily basis. Sure, you need the right idea, but unless people know about it...your idea ain't going nowhere.

Networking is easy. Unfortunately, there are two major obstacles that most people encounter at one point or another:

1. The Newbie Mistake

The newbie mistake is to NOT contact people like me, due to fear. Get over it. Contact me. Let me know what you want. But first, let me know what you can offer;-)

2. The Expert Mistake

The expert mistake is to grow complacent with your current network. Sure, you're successful. But networks are dynamic. All you 26-30 year olds -> you aren't the energetic younguns you used to be. Make friends with the guys and gals who are taking your place...and in doing so you'll be reinforcing your network.

Success comes from people. The more people you know, the more people you can reach. So start making friends...a new one every day, for that matter.

My blogging journey and success story!

Submitted by youlki22 on October 22, 2007 - 4:38pm in

My blogging journey started about 2 years ago, with a blogging network "writingup". Unfortunately from more than 6 months this network is no more active. And I felt sorry for going down this site, because my blog at that network was ranked google page rank=4.

My second success story is with a word press blog, which was also a part of a network. That network is still running, but due to some conflicts with admin I have to leave that blog. Within 6 months this blog ranked google page rank=5. You can see still this blog here.
