A compilation of free photo sources

Malte has compiled a list of sources where you can get free photos. The original Article is in German ("110 Quellen für kostenlose Fotos") but pretty self explaining. To honor his work I have written a short review at StumbleUpon and sent him to del.icio.us.

110 sources for free photos

Please take care to check out the licenses esp. before using the pictures in commercial projects (Yes! AdSense is commercial :) Malte says he did check the actual TOS and licenses for every mentioned free photo source. But to be on the safe side you should always double check before publishing a picture.

His remarks are in German and you might try to understand the '110 sources for free photos' better after running it through the Google translation service.

Bonus: Another 'Where to get free pictures ...' paragraph.

Are you using images and symbol pictures?
A picture is the extra mile you have to go to make your article outstanding.

Fact is that readers will remember strong pictures more than your text desert.

Sorry to all the Pulitzer Price worthy text producing bloggers out there. Images create readers attention. The standard human brain is a remarkable pattern recognition machine. Visualize your article subject and people will remember that specific content and all related information much stronger than without images.

It is not free like in 'free beer' but it looks like a nice deal.
Look at the details below!

Stock photo agency Corbis offers photos for no costs to bloggers on a special webite.

First the other perspective :-)

Copyright infringement

"Our legal department is a revenue generator for Corbis." Chief Executive Gary Shenk told the Reuters Media Summit.

"We don’t have a lot of lawsuits. We just find infringement and then we turn them into customers."

 Top Photography Composition Tips

The most important part of photography is to watch and then compose photographs. Photos could be clear and sharp, with good color, but may appear as boring to the viewer. It’s very important to learn to look around and search for interesting scenes. Walk around and look at your subject from different angles and take into consideration other factors like available light or the background.
