Does Performancing work with Wordpress.com?

Wordpress.com is fine with Performancing Firefox but you do need to make sure you are using the correct username and password. Try logging out and back into wordpress.com and use the user/pass in performancing firefox exactly as you enter it to log into the site. You might need to use the "manually configure" option then choose wordpress.com but my wordpress.com blog was detected fine.

I have tried to log out from wordpress.com and add my wordpress blog to performancing (with the exact username and password), as you suggested. but it still doesn't work. the same login error problem still occured

I just set up my wordpress.com blog again and it seemed ok. I couldn't remember my password so I selected to reset it, I put in http://chrisgarrett.wordpress.com, then I pasted my username and the new password in.

Try doing a password reset on wordpress.com, it will email you a new password that you can copy and paste right into the text box in the blog setup wizard. Failing that we will have to get Jed to investigate for you, it could be that it is timing out.

again, it doesn't work....

do u think it helps if i reinstall the performancing extension in firefox?

I had copied and pasted my login and password and it didn't work. I tried manually doing everything, still didn't work. It seems to be timing out maybe? I even changed my password (I didn't like the one WP gave me anyway :-D) and it still didn't work.

I would LOVE to use this with my site!! This is the one I post to several times a day and it would be EXTREMELY useful!!

It sounds like an issue you need to take up with wordpress if you can't login manually either...

Can you both pm me with your url, username and password. Change the password to a temporary password, once I have it tested you can then change them back

Have you tried it without the 'www' in the url also? (does just 'http://doozie.wordpress.com/' work?)

I'm having what seems to be the same problem and there was an earlier thread with several other people complaining about the same thing. It's not a password issue, although performancing does suggest that you check your username and password. I assume it is something on our webhost side, but I haven't been able to confirm that either.

Hopefully SOMEONE will figure it out. By the way, I have the same issue with Deepest Sender.

I found the solution thanks to letsimaginate's help.

Quick description: When PFF first started, wordpress.com only allowed your domain to be yourusername.wordpress.com.

So what pff and I assume deepestsender does is replaces the 'yourusername' with your username, and then makes the call.

In all of your cases (but not mine) your domain prefix is NOT the same as your username.

I will fix this for the next release of PFF, but in the mean-time here is how to get it to work in PFF 1.2 and earlier:

1) Launch the account wizard
2) Don't add your blog url, instead hit 'Manually Configure'
3) Choose 'Custom Blog' from the drop down menu
4) Leave the Blog system type as 'Wordpress" and change the server API url to your wordpress url plus a /xmlrpc.php
i.e. for letsimaginate case it would be http://doozie.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php
5)Hit next and type in your username and password
6) It should have worked!!!

I'm so sorry for this guys, but I'm glad the issue has come to light and I promise it will be fixed in the next release. (I'm fixing it now).
