Can't set up a blogger account

PerformancingAds
Submitted by dougk on September 20, 2006 - 11:33pm in

I walk through the launch account wizard sequence and PFF finds my blog. I enter the correct username and password, but the wizard never gets past "logging in". I've left it sitting for ten minutes and still no progress. I've browsed earlier posts, but don't see anything that matches this. And, just FYI, I'm on the original blogger/blogspot, not the BETA.

Dougk,
Interesting, could you PM me your blog url, and if you are interested your email address and I'll send you a dev build as well.

I'm wondering if it's chocking when finding your blog and if my latest fixes work in this case.

thanks.

Same thing here

Edit - nevermind - restarted and ran setup, and it worked.

I just set up the account today, but am experiencing the same issue (logging in for over 10 minutes).

Really? Is the account the

Really? Is the account the same one you emailed me about? Does it always take that long, or just in the account wizard?

My blogger accounts (both beta and normal) come up instantly.

You can always check http://status.blogger.com/ as well to see if it was/is down when you are checking.

won't accept username and password

I have two blogs - writing project and one for journalism students. I cannot get performancing to accept the username and password for my student blog which is really important. I checked and I am using the correct infor.

Same problem

I have the same problem: the account wizard never gets passed "loggin in" when trying to connect to engagedjasper.blogspot.com. Could you help me with this?

Thanks,

Ditto...

Can't get past the Login info. no matter how many times I enter it.

Other possible info. is that I'm on the new Beta version.

Thanks,

Michael

sort of ditto...

I'm having the same problems as the guys above, but when trying to log in i get an invalid user name and/or password error. I've double checked that i'm using the correct one a few times so that's not the problem. I'm using the following API: https://www.blogger.com/atom/22037200

I think I'm suffering this

Hi All,

Anyone know if there is a solution for this?

Is really annoying not to be able to post to blogger through performancing. In fact it is the only reason to have performancing installed.

Any help would be really appreciated.

J.

Cant login thru performancing

same problem as a lot of other comments when I launch Account Wizard and get to login it tells me invalid user name or password but I can do a direct login to my blog thru the server.

Blogger issues

I know a lot of people who are having trouble posting anything to blogger today. Not sure exactly what the issue is, but it appears to be widespread.

Whats really strange is the

Whats really strange is the only way I can post to blogger is with PFF. I cant access my post in dashboard. I can access everything else but not post. wierd)

Still the same problem

I just stumbled upon Performancing and really would like to use it in blogger.com (normal, no beta)
But I get also the "wrong password" error, also it is 200% correct and blogger.com itself works fine...
Would be great if someone could give me an advice.

THX in advance!

I'm wait a long time for this update. It's a great news, but remember, Jed: within 2 days, ok? jajajaja. Thanks! Good work.

Haha, yes.. two days

Haha, yes.. two days assuming no major issues/blokers are found. But I'm pretty confident this build or with very minor changes will be pushed out tomorrow night as 1.3.5 :)

Waiting with confidence and hope ;)

You didn't know (well, maybe you know), what a pain is to log into blogger and publish something there... given the fact that in performancing it is a snap.

While we wait for 1.3.5 to get out, you can go ahead and get the latest beta here:

PLEASE report back ASAP if you have any issues as I really want to get this out the door really really soon! Thanks

having trouble with beta

I still can't connect to my beta blog using the new beta. I've tried entering the direct URL rosenkavalier817.blogspot.com

and as directed the following URL https://www.blogger.com/atom/22037200

The latter asks me for my credentials, but like before they keep being rejected no matter what.

edit: When creating a custom setup and connecting to blogger, I get the following error after entering my account info: Type Error: dom has no properties 960.

Click on add(bottom right) a box should pop up and click manual conf. set it to custom. hit next top drop box set to blogger, bottom box where it says server api where it says BLOGNAME replace that with your blogname, leave the rest alone and hit next. It should ask for a username and password. User name is YOU@gmail.com and enter you password, hit next, it might be instant or it might take a min but you should see your site pop up and thats it hit finnished. Post back with results

Hmm.. So using the beta it

Hmm..
So using the beta it gives you that URl for the API?

The correct API should be

for you.

Let me know if that works, and I'll look into why it isn't finding it right.

Thats what it gives me jed.

Thats what it gives me jed. But a strange thing did happen when I updated from the 20061006 dev to 1.35b3
At 1st in the publishing options there was a check box to post tags to technorati. Now all of a sudden that box is gone. It seemed to happen when I deleted one of the users ( I had added myself again to check on other users problems) Well I deleted the bottom most account. I currently have no probs but I think I got the beta before you actually released it.:) So you might have made some changes before the release. Im telling you this only so you can sleep better:) Im a beta tester and I have my ways...lol

Invalid user/pass for blogger setup

Yep....I'm suffering from this problem too!

Get as far in the wizard as the user/pass fields. Enter my Blogger details, it thinks about it for a while then tells me my details are invalid (which they aren't!).

Any suggestions?

I have installed the latest version (1.3.5)...

I HAD upgraded to the Beta earlier in the day - it must require some time to do whatever it is it does - because now it works!

Blogger woes

Having a problem using the Firefox extension. Just picked it up for the first time today (using FF2.0 installed version 1.3.5). I have an old blogger account (not the new beta) and it won't let me setup the account. I've tried several things to make it work, at one point it let me setup the account but then kept giving me a popup saying no API exists at the URL so I had to delete it.

Any help would be grand.

Problem with old blogger blogs is many of them do not have the API autodetect features in their template like the newer ones do.

Error message from blogger : SOLVED

Hi,

Firefox 1.5 on Linux
Performancing 1.3.5

On attempting to run the Account Wizard I receive the following errot message from blogspot ::

"Woops you found a Blogger error, please contact the author at performancing.com/forum/firefox and give the following info

TypeError: dom has no properties 960"

Any suggestions as to how I get round this much appreciated.

I would love to get performancing up and running.

Cheers

Interesting solution. If you enter the address manually and then proceed to the next stage then setup fails. If you enter the address and then "click" check url then move on to the next stage then all works. Not quite sure how this is the case without unscrambling the setup wizard but there is something in there that snags ( I think )

Hm, still problems with FF2,

Hm, still problems with FF2, PFF 1.3.5 and Blogger Beta.
My Blog is hostet on my private Webspace at http://www.petersenjan.de/Blog
First I got this error with "dom has no properties 960" then I tried scaglifrs solution and got a big popup with a lot of HTML code where it said that the folder wasn't found...

dfc-neo: I assume the API url you are using is http://www.blogger.com/feeds/29714605/posts/full ?

When do you see that properties 960 error?

Thx for ur great work

Thx for ur great work firstly, but I got a problem after I upgraded to PF1.35,can`t set blogger account now!
http://china-environmental-news.blogspot.com/
which is the blog I maintained, and I'm staying with the old blogger.com service. After I clicked the custom config then chose blogger, replace the first part of default API address with mine, click next, the problem is the PF just kept logging in,nothing happened next.
anything wrong with my process?

same problem even with 1.3.5 update

Ever since i updated to the new blogger beta..Signing in is no good. I deleted my account and then tried setting up a new account with the new google username/password and i still get the wrong username/password prompt. I'm using Firefox 2.0 with Performancing 1.3.5 update.

Blog address is http://darthvaderkk.blogspot.com

It automatically fills in the new API address which is

http://username.blogpost.com/feeds/posts/default

but on the next page where i enter the username/password,,it gives me a incorrect id/pw dialog box and then gets stuck. I've tried using both my older blogger specific username password and the universal google username password. Neither works..

Help me out please.. I don't mind writing my blogs directly from the blogger site,,but it's damn inconvenient.

Another blogger problem

I also have a blog at ***.blogspot.com, and I can't get Performancing to work. I select the Blogger/blogspot site with my particular information, then add my Blogger username and password which won't work. The error message suggests that I use my Google username and password, which also doesn't work--same error message.

Any thoughts?

A few thoughts. First, make

A few thoughts.

First, make sure the API url makes sense
It should look like either
a) http://_yourblogname_.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

or

b) http://www.blogger.com/feeds/_xxxxxx_/posts/full
(where _xxxx_ is your blog ID)

Also, for some reason one of my blogsopt blogs requires me to use my email address 'pfftester@mydomain.com' instead of my normal username 'pfftester'.

So I would suggest trying your email address that is part of your blogger acount.

Let me know if this works for you, so we can make the documentation even better.

Performancing looks like a

Performancing looks like a great idea, but worked my way through some of the other problems people were having, only now I get a "Woops, you found Blogger error. . .

Thanks BS

Ref :suggest trying your email address

Posted by Jed Brown..

Tried that too.. rather than enter just darthvaderkk..i entered darthvaderkk@gmail.com

Let me give you the entire step by step so in case i'm doing something wrong someplace,,do correct me..

Click on "Launch Account Wizard">>"Manually Configure">>"Custom Blog">>"Blogger"

Change the server API field text from

to

Enter username and password... Tried entering both varieties i.e Just my username...and username@gmail.com

same result both time..

Getting username and password Error.

I've used the API url (a),

I've used the API url (a), Performancing's default.

I've entered my gmail email address + password, my gmail username (sans "@gmail.com") + password, plus my Blogger username + password. None of them work.

Any thoughts?

I've had nothing but trouble

I've had nothing but trouble for the last few days. I'm using the Beta dev of PFF but nothing is working. It seems to be there, but if I use more than a few lines in my posts it won't post. A line or two, and it will post. I get all the errors as well, #201 Atom, the 960, XML [object Object], getting very frustrating.

Hmm.. I feel your pain.

Hmm..

I feel your pain. Seems blogger is going a bit funky again. I'll get on top of this.

The other API url to try out is:

http://www.blogger.com/feeds/_xxxxxx_/posts/full
(where _xxxx_ is your blog ID)

Then try using your email address and password.

Sorry for these issue. The new blogger/ blogger beta has been nothing but headaches for me so far :) mainly because between the two systems so many things are different. I really hope they migrate everyone to the new service/api soon so this gets resolved easier.

however, as for the posting issue I'm working on a solution now, thanks for the patience.

invalid blog id

hello, i see all kinds of problems here haha and i'm getting some too.

i tried to create an acc with my takeko.blogspot.com acc, and i tried both APIs provided, and even tried the atom.xml thingy in place of the API (which works! it adds it to the list whereas the others cant even get past the wizard but cant be posted)

i just installed performancing a few days ago so it shd be the latest version..

my error msges vary. if i follow everything according to the format, i get "the blogger.com served with the following message" and a long chunk of html and coding with "the requested url is not found on this server."

if i try it with API of http://www.blogger.com/feeds/takeko/posts/full, i get "invalid blog id specified".

i have a beta account as well and it works perfectly.

so wat bout the old blogger account, any solutions for that?

@Takeko: it shouldn't be

@Takeko:
it shouldn't be /feeds/takeko/posts/full but instead /feeds/takeko/xxxxxxx/full
where those XXX are you blog ID (a bunch of numbers).

In your case it looks like your blog id is 3526129, so your api would then be:
http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3526129/posts/full

Let me know if that works.

Cheers
-Jed

Re: @Takeko: it shouldn't be

By Jed Brown

But that's not how Performancing shows the Blogger API..

It simply shows it as

which if we enter our blog address in the first screen and click "Check URL" changes to

There is no numerical key anywhere....

However..

There is a option in that screen for "Advanced settings" where there is a blank field for "API Key" with the caption "normally ignored"

Can we try entering something here to get it to login??? IF yes,,what should be entered here???

omg it worked

omg now i feel kinda dumb haha for mistaking those xxxx.. it totally worked when i used the correct API!

haha thank youuuu so much for the quick reply omg i love perfomancing now! thank you thank you!

:D

Same problem...

I'm also struggling with the setup process to http://gomanngo.blogspot.com
Username & password are correct, but it's trying to tell me they're not.
For the API address I've tried:
http://www.blogger.com/feeds/gomanngo/8953700139571099644/full
and
http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8953700139571099644/posts/full
...but neither works.

Similar problems - setup worked, but not post

Hi,

I finally was able to set up my blog at www.paulhyland.com/blog, now using the new Blogger, but when I post something it doesn't appear on my blog. (which also shows up at www.paulhyland.com through a redirect).

Still stuck.........

HI Paul or Jed or takako,

I've also tried using my blogger API id,,in both ways that Jason above me wrote it as,,,still doesn't login..

can somebody give me a step by step...i'm really going outta my mind here.

Thanks in advance

Hmm, have you guys tried

Hmm, have you guys tried using your email address that is link to our blogger account as the username?
Sometimes you have to do this if your username conflicts with a Google id now that they have merged and the new API goes through google.

Afraid so...

I didn't have a Google account before setting up this blog in Beta, so the only username I have is the email linked to Blogger.
I'm just a bit glad I had the API address format right lol.

Same problem

Using 1.3.5 with FF 1.5.0.8 also unable to make the
Wizard work.

http://djomama.blogspot.com

Would you please post the correct API? I have
no idea how to get it.

Just tried again

Success!

Disregard previous message.

Same probleme here...

I'm hosting my WP on my server, and when trying to configure it with performancing, i get user identification problem...is there any tricks that i have to do to make it works.

I host, wordpress in a subdomain...if it could help

Spheero, sure. PM or paste

Spheero, sure. PM or paste your blogs url here and I'll help you out.

PM...

I don't know if you did receive my PM...Or should i send it again

I did. Thanks :)

I did. Thanks :)

Good as Gold

I was having the blogger problem, but found that your suggestion of typing in,

http://www.blogger.com/feeds/_xxxxxx_/posts/full

where the XXXXX are the blog id number worked perfectly. To find your blog ID number simply sign in to blogger, and access your blog editing screen. When you look up at the address bar, the id number is listed. That was the real trick, finding the id number, as I first assumed the id was my account id...

A good step-by-step guide would be VERY useful to avoid this problem. But I look forward to blogging with Performancing.

Thanks.

This solution worked!

I was also having problems logging into my Blogger account via Performancing, but your solution worked! Thanks so much.

I am using the newest update to Performancing and Blogger Beta and it requires me to log in using the EMAIL address and password that are linked to Blogger AND the correct API URL for me was "http://www.blogger.com/feeds/_xxxxxx_/posts/full".

Again, thanks a ton!

I thought this would be a cool service but it doesn't work...

Maybe you guys should go back to the drawing board and get this thing to work before you send it out for all of us to flounder around with.

I have not been able to get past the log in. It seems that this is a recurring theme in the support forums. The post go back a few months now and you still have not fixed it.

I want to be able to go to the log in, type a user name and password and then use your service as advertised. I don't have time to bang my head on the desk like an idiot.

Please send me an email when you get it fixed.

Log in rejected

I'm having the same problem. My login name and password are not being accepted although they are correct and work to access my blog but I can't set up an account because it rejects them.

same as a lot of people

hey there performancing. the following steps have been taken on my part:
-my live spaces account (email me superdave_8000@hotmail.com for my live spaces account address) should definitely be the proper address to get to blogging in my space account.
-i insert this into the url, and it recognizes it
-i enter my proper username and password which you have sent me to confirm my suspiscions
-it says either username or password are wrong
As a note i just downloaded the newest version today and no change. As well i tried to go into Live Spaces options and added my email address superdave_8000@hotmail.com in the first empty slot once i checked off "turn on email publishing". I also created my secret word and saved all of this. But trying my login name you gave me, the email address i added with my secret word, or a combination of both.... but i get nothin! i appreciate your help and hope this sweet service can work out fro me. thanks a ton!

I can't figure out how to set anything up. Could someone please help?

Account wizard doesn't seem to like some new blogger accts

I've been playing with this for a while and have come to the conclusion that one of the following things must be the matter:

- They've made changes to the new blogger API since 1.3.5 (entirely possible I suppose)
- There are differences with certain accounts that prevent Performancing from being able to setup new accounts properly

I suppose that perhaps people that had already setup their new blogger accounts in Performancing may not be affected or I imagine you'd see posts/comments relative to those kinds of problems. It seems from the posts that the folks having problems are those using the wizard to setup a new installation of Performancing using Blogger accounts.

Regardless, here are my details for reference:

blog: http://onamerica.blogspot.com
url used for API: http://onamerica.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full
and http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8155090/posts/full (which by the way, automatically redirects to http://www2.blogger.com/feeds/8155090/posts/full )

I use my gmail login info as that is how I log into Blogger but have also tried my older Blogger login info as well just to be thorough. Each time I try it comes back with the same error message: "Error. Please check your username/password."

Hopefully this information is helpful in being able to find the issue. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

I may do some poking around on my own - if I do I'll post further details in a new post.

Blogger account - setting up problems

They are just going through an upgrading phase [the new beta version] and obviously most of the problems associated are with this transition. It is of no use to try and figure it out technically [this is only a personal opinion] as you end up feeling wasted.

Just take a break and do something else. By the time you return any problem would have generally sorted itself out.

Ofcourse its better contacting them should any bug persist. Say so because have wasted considerable time in the past trying to sort out these bugs.

HI All,

I seem to be having the same problem a lot of you have had: I host Wordpress on my own site, can log in OK through the browser (so username and password are obviously OK), but the Performancing plugin tells me there's a login error.

Here's my setup:

blog is at http://www.mydomain.com/blog
API is at http://www.mydomin.com/blog/xmlrpc.php

same result with or without the www in it.

Any ideas, people?

You guys...it's so simple, you're gonna smack yourselves in the head.

I had the same problems, Blugger shoved the new version down my throat this morning, I could log into the Blogger's editor but not using Performancing Firefox. I beat myself up trying all the tricks listed above.

Trick is: Google sends you an email to your mailbox...you have to click on the thing to verify your new account! After that, I was able to go directly into the Performancing account wizard, with no API tricks, and log in.

(Takes a bow...)

Look, it's easy. Do this:

Look, it's easy. Do this: when PFF asks your API Adress, just write http://www.blogger.com/feeds/36797125/posts/full

Now you just have to write your Google accont user and password! Ready!!!!

I've tried all of the suggestions on this forum -- including the blogID -- at least a few times and for each solution, I've tried both with my full gmail email address AND just the username part.

All produce the login error.

Sorry, it looks like the solution is working for some but not others. I had a blog at Blogger when it was Blogspot and I participated early in Google's beta program. I'd love to use PFF but I just can't seem to make it work...
