Drupal installation

I tried installing drupal. It gave me an error and told me that it couldnt connect with the database. Makes sense, I did not edit any files. It gave me this link http://drupal.org/node/258. This document asks me to edit conf.php. I dont find conf.php anywhere. Any ideas... I am using Drupal 4.7 version.
