Hello all...
Let me start by saying the Performancing is a gem of a site and it has been very helpful in helping me organize and focus on my blogging. I thank you kindly for everything.
So, I have had my blogup and running since December 2005. I've been working to build the content and to learn the basics of maintaining a blog (far more work then one would think!) and I am ready to expand a bit by asking other sites similar to mine for links.
I understand that there is an idea of a "formal link request" yet I am not sure what this would entail. I would greatly appreciate any input from the gurus here.
Thank you!

Forget link requests
Forget link requests entirely. They're a red herring, and most get binned as the annoying spam that they are.
Concentrate on writing some outstanding posts, or putting together some great resources on your topic and then emailing those other blogs / sites that you dont think have noticed you.
Some of them will link to your posts, job done.
Hey there Nick... thank you
Hey there Nick... thank you so much for the input! I was not thinking of links to the posts themselves as much as links to the site but I see that is more ideal for a blog as opposed to a regular site.
Food for thought.
I am not using trackbacks ...
I am not using trackbacks. Instead I prefer to notice people by mail if I linked to them in one of my articles or in my public or on-site bookmarks. This is a very successful personal way to get in contact and share information on an informative level. Links will follow naturally - but I never ask for them.
