I have that local German newspaper page: sankt-georg.info
Google is sending very steady traffic from the very first day. No sandbox delay no nothing ... beautiful performance! The site went public in march and I am very impressed by the steady traffic development.
I am wondering by now (five month later) why MSN and Yahoo don't send as much traffic as Google does. They both are sending traffic, MSN a little more then Yahoo, but too less to be valuable. If I cross check the search phrases coming from Google with MSN and Yahoo there are so many bulls... pages listed before me that I really wonder how they rank (German?) pages at all.
(On another English (!?) page it started with MSN from the very beginning and after about six month Google and Yahoo kicked in pretty simultaneously (as I expected).)
Any ideas why sankt-georg.info is so underperformaning with Yahoo & MSN?

Opposite Problem
My sites are the antithesis of yours. I rank number one in Yahoo for most keywords, but keep popping in and out of Google. MSN, like you, sends bits in dribs and drabs. It's been years and nothing I've done has changed things. I've basically quite trying to please Google and am happy when when I get a traffic spike because they finally decide to put me in every now and again. It's kind of like being on the cliff, but the railing is too damn high to jump off.

My HTML site about 95% of the search engine traffic we see is Google. It is absolutely amazing sometimes that Yahoo! is only about 1%, and MSN about half a percent.
Btw, I have been taking classes at the Goethe Institute here and am loving learning German. I am just about to complete my first year, and am looking forward to coming back to Germany early in 2007 to test out my knowledge!

Back to subject:
I don't see a real pattern yet, but I have the feeling that Yahoo and MSN are not weighting single articles but the wholes site. If the whole site is centered around some few keywords then Yahoo and MSN happily send visitors.
I have one site where it looks like that and it is too bad that I haven't kept the data from that stock photography portal which also was centered around some central keyword phrases.
I have the opposite...
I'm finding that Yahoo and MSN are sending traffic and Google isn't very much. Kind of depressing when Google is soooooo big! Oh well. I guess I just need to look at SEO more.
If you hang around with your
If you hang around with your website long enough Google will start sending visitors. My problem are the other two :-)
