Not the real big news as a lot of Google specific sites have already blogged about the new Google Blog Search Pinging Service this week but in case you missed it here is my summary.
From the Google Blog Search Ping-Page:
If your blog is not listed in our (Google Blog Search) results, we want to hear about it.
Enter your blog's web or feed address below and we'll do our best to add it to our index as quickly as possible.
To be on the safe side I would manually ping both versions: the RSS feed and the homepage. That's my recommendation if you are using an RSS service like FeedBurner which is served by a different machine.
OK, and here you find the Google FAQ: About Google Blog Search Pinging Service
And if you are really hungry for that information you can subscribe to the recently added and changed blogs: Google Blog Search changes.xml By default you see data from the last five minutes. By adding ?last=1200 you get results for the 1,200 seconds. Nice feature to control if your ping has arrived.
And Google offers an API to ping them every time when your blog has changed: About Google Blog Search Pinging Service API. For all those ping addicts this is another ping service you might want to add to your ping list. Please check beforehand if you are not pinging Google Blog Search through another service like ping-o-matic which i.e. is offered by PFF.
In my case it's a Google mystery. My page is listed very very well in the standard Google search but in the blog search I do only find all my side kicks. Google Blog Search with link: gives loads of links to my site but site: just brings up three very old articles from March 21st. Very funny. I submitted my site and the feed to Google Blog Search but nothing has changed until now. Maybe it's the old Google indexing bug with dashes in domain names.
You heard it here last :-)

I guess I'm a total idiot but....
I don't get it.
Can we enter an address in that WordPress box?
I'm not sure what to do with that API?
(embarrassed)
Katie, I added
Katie, I added http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2 to my ping servers list. But I did not check if GBS is pinged successfully. Who cares :-)
I FeedBurner you can add GBS to the services to be pinged.
Thanks
Great post, especially the part about manually feeding to the blog search. Thanks so much!
