Performancing launched with a splash, we got noticed early and in a big way. We used every trick in the book including buying ads. You don't necessarily need to get big fast though, there are some advantages to "small and quiet" versus "big and loud".

 How Dependent are you on Bloglines?

When the Bloglines Plumber is making an appearance, I realize just how dependent I am on Bloglines. Not as a reader, I've long prefered a desktop app to a hosted solution for this very reason, but traffic-wise, a site like Performancing relies pretty heavily on the blogosphere's #1 reader.

 Navigation, Needs to be by Design, not by Accident!

Having mentioned earlier that the typical blog navigation by archives and/or calendars really isn't the best way of guiding your visitor around your professional blog I thought I'd like to expand on that a bit with a traditional graphic experience of a very successful tried and tested method. Are your archives/calendar necessary or are they taking up valuable real estate?

In a recent article entitled “Googling For Gold” written by Roben Farzad and Ben Elgin of Business Week I found myself nodding vigorously at their excellent analysis of where the Google phenomenon currently stands. The $120 billion dollar Google Gorilla now rides inexorably on a wave of investor sentiment. Showing some parallels with the first internet bubble, - this has brought a whole host of entities such as venture capitalists and investment bankers together in an effort to come up with businesses and technology that the mighty Google may want to gobble up one day.
