I also publish a lot on my personal Google map.

SEO & Google My Maps: The power of localization

But of course G-Maps are also great for doing some research as I also have found some useful personal maps for specific subjects like airplane spotting locations at airports. To have such specific information handy is priceless and adds valuable information to an article.

Why do I mention spotting points? We had a dramatic crosswind landing of an Airbus in Hamburg some days ago resulting in a near crash situation with wing(s) tipping the runway. I had to create a useful resource article in very short time to draw in traffic.

Despite the fact that I start to sound like a del.icio.us evangelist I have to throw in bookmark directories i.e. d.i.u. The reason is very simple: Those bookmarks were set by 'human filters' and very often have short descriptive notes. To get fast results I use the RSS feeds. They perform much better than the original d.i.u webpage.

Oh, and one YouTube feature which is not mentioned very often are the playlists. Create a new playlist and gather subject related videos. You can even embed the playlist in your article (which destroys validation - if you care about). Don't forget to throw in a link to your resource article in the playlist description.

And then there is my article: Desktop Research: Trends 2008 (Bonus: OPML File)

One of my favorite ways of finding quality information from authority sites is to limit my searches solely to pages that originate from them via the site: tag.

ie, to find articles about blogging for hire from Performancing.com, you could search on:

site:performancing.com blog for hire

It's a very easy way to zero in on quality resources.

Enjoy,
