Since the beginning of the year, I have been looking and experimenting more and with the concept that the blogosphere could leverage its power by focusing its voice. I have worked on political blogs and built a marketing company built entirely around the principle that bloggers can leverage their blogs and articles together to achieve a goal.
Most of these goals have been based around a monetization goal.
Today, I'm kicking off a project with a goal designed to achieve three specific goals.
Let me identify the Site's Title and domain first.
Title: Campaign to Sack Michael Vick

- Sack Michael Vick from the NFL
- Sack Michael Vick from any Corporate Sponsors

Questions
What are your experiences with protest sites?
What works and what does not work?
What else can I do?
Collect money and provide it to a charity?
Which one(s)
Vick goes to trial in November on the Federal charges. I want to work to see that he does not play any games or receive a paycheck between now and the day the verdict is read.
I do believe he is innocent until proven guilty on the federal charges, but I do think he is responsible for enabling (at a minimum) people to host dog fights, train dogs, torture and kill dogs on his property. His power, money and the power and money of the organizations behind him let this happen.
This is not the most important thing in the world, but I see this as an opportunity to build experience in the arena and learn some best practices so that bloggers as a group can tackle even bigger issues in the future.
I have my sites on the US election and see this as a smaller run up to the level of effort that will be needed for bloggers to influence the election of the next president in a significant way.
We can be the Sixth Estate.
PS
- this is not a Performancing sponsored protest, but I'd love to have Performancing on board for this ride. I am using a Performancing theme for the site.
WARNING
- If you watch and listen to the Top Video on the Site, you might cry.

Damn, wish I thought of
Damn, wish I thought of that!

Good Call
You definitely have my support. To allow Michael Vick to continue to compete in the NFL would be a disgrace. Just because he pulls in big bucks for the Falcons doesn't mean that he shouldn't be held accountable for his actions. I recently wrote an article about the whole mess on Trendonyms.com.
As far as protest sites, I'm not sure how well they work, but I've always thought they were pretty pointless because all they generally are is some kind of online petition. However, if you could galvanize a group into some kind of tangible action, who knows? I'd definitely be on board with whatever you come up with.
Tangible Action
This has been my perception too. Its difficult to identify the tangible action. We have goals, but I definitely need to come up with what that tangible action should be.
I suspect that it may be money related
Maybe a boycot
Maybe fundraising to support a charity
Maybe its one of those things where people add a badge supporting the effort to their blog
The petitions already work to get the message out to politicians, corporations and more.
I'm definitely open to suggestions and alliances to achieve something here.
Just an Update
The Campaign to Sack Michael Vick from the NFL website has risen to number 5 in Google for 'sack vick' - this blog thread hear is number 5. ;)
The site is definitely attracting attention as it comes up on its one month mark. I do not know if it will continue after next Monday, but the way things are shaping up, it looks like Michael Vick may have found a way to cheat justice and he will likely return to the NFL, possibly as soon as the beginning of Summer Camp next year.
In that case, this pop up site, might turn into a more permanent fixture. I'd probably rather see the controversy end and have Vick pay his dues and remain out of the NFL, possibly working with the Humane Society and the NAACP for the rest of his days, but it currently seems like he will continue moving along a selfish path that leaves a waste of people and partners behind him.
Lessons Learned
I've learned a number of lessons from this exercise, which I will catalog here in greater detail soon. One of the things that I have learned the most was a skill and not a lesson. This experiment helped me to learn how to craft headlines possibly better than anything else I've done on the blogosphere.
Is there murder involved now too?
This pop up protest might take a turn down OJ alley. NC police (a few miles away from my new place - just moved away from Atlanta) are investigating connections between Michael Vick and a man murdered 8 days before the feds raided Vick's house
