Where should this go say on a blogger template?

z_post_title="<$BlogItemTitle$>";

Having some issues with where to post the first java script code after adding one of my blogs. It says to add it in the content of the template. I have no problems adding the performancing button to the sidebar but not sure what the other code does? Am I that dumb
