Hard to be enthusiastic

Whilst it's easy to be enthusiastic about the web, Google is just plain evil.

Google is ruining the internet but everyone seems to be OK with it because they're not Microsoft.

There's a question on Google along the lines of 'would your site/blog exist without Adsense ?'

Our answer to that was an emphatic YES. We didn't bother implementing Adsense on our blog and instead have been developing our own niche ad system.

A blog about Google should only be avoided, at all cost.

So, big thumbs down from me (not that anyone gives a rat's ring what I think)

Huh?

Shotoshi,

You make quite a few assumptions in your post that do not seem to be grounded in reality or even some logic. In addition to say that a blog about Google would be a bad thing is also illogical. Do you somehow think that not bloggin about it will reduce it's influence or market share? The reality is the only thing likely to stop or kill Google is Google itself. Certainly others will tell you that they have been harmed by Google, but so far I have not. That is of course, the nature of busines - the goal is to win.

Brad

You can be enthusiastic

You can be enthusiastic about blogging about the bad things Google do shotoshi, heh

Fair points Brad

Brad: logic, admittedly, is out the window in my assumptions. I was speaking from the heart, shooting from the hip (yada yada yada). But I repeat, Google is evil and will hopefully die on it's arse sooner than later. I hope. Although I should free myself from the constraint of hope, it is my opinion.

Logic is for losers.

Chris: that would be slightly more interesting and less nauseating. Ironically, such a blog could probably make a small fortune with Adsense ;-)

Adsense and Google are evil and I can prove it on an etch-a-sketch ;-)

Google evil? Get outta town

Google evil? Get outta town :)

OK, but...

This seems to me to be a pretty important discussion for the Performancing community. I hear these absolutes often thrown out to describe companies, that are in fact made up of people. So, to say that an entity is evil, is to say that all of those working for that entity are evil. That's a broad stroke.

In addition, it is my expectation, that a good number of folks that use/visit this site use Google to generate revenue for themselves.

I use Google search to find information I need, because they do it better than anyone else.

I use Google's Adwords to help friends, clients, and my employers get leads for their businesses. This in turn means they are housed, fed, and happier than they would be if they did not have the extra business that Google brings them through this program. My employer likes the fact that I have cut our lead costs in half and I have tripled the quality of leads and reduced the time it takes to close a sale.

I use Gmail, because it is easier to use and better at classifying my email than anything I have ever used and being a geek, I have used a lot of email interfaces.

Almost everything they do, they do better than others.

Microsoft used to be the evil empire that people painted with broad strokes and yet today, they seem to be not so evil to those that see Google as an evil empire. Now Google is taking on Microsoft with online applications the way Netscape should have done it. Yet, Google is evil. It is all very confusing to me.... ;)

In the end, Google is going to harm people and businesses with the moves they make. In the end they are going to crush competitors. They are a business afterall and that is what we and their shareholders and their employees expect them to do. If we want to change the way the world works and kill capitalism, because people get hurt, then we have a lot of work to do.

I won't pick one anyone

I won't pick on anyone in particular here, but for future reference, if you see a BLOGGING JOB posting, please keep the comments relevant to the job. Take political discussions over to the Performancing Forums. What you can do is link from your forum thread to the posting in question. Then you can drop a small comment here to link over to your forum discussion.

thanks

Good point Raj

While I did find the dialogue interesting, Raj has a point the exchange is supposed to be here for the exchange of services between professional bloggers and sites looking for professional blogging support.

The section seems to be akin an offer letter exchange or even an interview, where politics, religion and belief systems are sometimes taboo.

Off topic

Indeed all off topic.. it's what raj says.. but you get those things if you post it on a blog, you make it public. Nice job postings here by the way.
