Windows Live Spaces and MSN Spaces

Submitted by Jed Brown on August 8, 2006 - 3:24pm in

Since Windows Live Spaces went live, all MSN spaces accounts have been switched over.

For those comining from MSN spaces and have pff configured for it, things are the same as before, however new Live Spaces users need to following the following instructions for Windows Live Spaces posting from pff.

1) Log into your Live Spaces Account
2) Click 'Edit your space' and then 'Options' (next to customize and below the signout button)
3)Choose 'E-mail publishing' from the left-side nav bar
4)Check the 'Turn on e-mail publishing' checkbox
5)Add your live spaces account email address (the one you used to log into spaces) to one of the E-mail address boxes (the first if it's empty)
6) Choose a secret word.

*) Now in PFF, launch the account wizard and paste in your blog url
i.e. http://username.spaces.live.com/blog

*) continue and enter your user name (not the email address, just the username) and for password use the 'Secret word' that you defined above.

You should be good to go from here.

Feel free to post any problems you have here.

Thanks been a fantastic help

Thanks been a fantastic help :)

I didn't get you...username

say i am having tht secret mail address as blogname.secretword@spaces.live.com
then wats the user name?
i tried with
blogname.secretword it doesnt work...

http://jigarashah.spaces.live.com/blog
i tried with jigarashah

the secret email address

the secret email address shouldn't matter, it's whatever the secret password is. And your login should be jigarashah

So login should be: jigarashah
and password: secretword

still a problem

These instructions aren't working for me.

I access my MSN space using my gmail account, which I have regeistered through microsoft.

So, for example, if the live.messenger account is BlahABC@gmail.com, and the space is called B-A-B-C, and the secret word is set to blahhabc, and the e-mail address that I list in the box on my MSN space to allow e-mail publishing is BlahABC@gmail.com, then it should all work, right?

Well... it doesn't.

I've also tried changing the secret word to something entirely unrelated to my username... I have no idea what else to do. Help!!!

But it's not working, and I

But it's not working, and I can't figure it out.
In my example:
B-A-B-C.spaces.live.com/blog
email: BlahABC@gmail.com
secret word: blahabc

So when I log into performancing, my username should be B-A-B-C, and the password blahabc, right?
That's what I'm doing and it's not working. What am I doing wrong?

That should work. are you

That should work.
are you sure your secret word is set right? Remember that isn't your normal login password.

Has this worked for anyone

Has this worked for anyone yet?

performancing problems with space.live

I too have had problems posting to my blog on spaces.live - it appears I am not alone. I have made progress however; I am able to get to the post window but it always tells me that I have no subject and do I wish to post anyway? Then it shows an error message. I know you are working on this and I am very patient. I think it is a great extension and look forward to it becoming a friendly application.

So, if I right-click, click performancing, then 'post to blog', how do I get a 'subject' to post? Do I highlight text, or drag, or copy/paste, or what?

Thanks Jed: I appreciate your help

not as patient as I thought

So, I can copy and paste from any website within 10 seconds: guess I will uninstall PFF - Thanks anyway - could've been a good idea
