Performancing Metrics is a free professional grade blog statistics service aimed at professional bloggers
- All the information bloggers need
- Track mutiple blogs with one user account
- Ideal for high traffic blogs and blog networks
- RSS 2.0 feeds - get your stats in your news reader
- It's completely FREE!
Even while Performancing Metrics is still in beta, it is fast becoming one of our favorite stats packages.
-- Jeremy Wright, b5media
Wow, this tool is brilliant! I'm learning all kinds of new things about my blogs. I love the way Performancing Metrics breaks down information by post and comments rather than pages. It makes so much more real-world sense.
-- Danae Shell, Knickers
- Register or login to your Performancing account.
- Go to your Performancing Metrics page and "activate" Metrics
- Add a blog. Just follow the instructions, then when you've got your code, and pasted it into your blogs template, add another, and another, and another....
IMPORTANT: It will take at least one hour, if not 2 or 3 for the system to begin showing data. If you follow the instructions, all will be well. Just hang in there for a couple of hours and you'll start seeing some action.
There is much to discover in the system, here are a few things to look at right away;
- Add multiple blogs - really, add as many as you want. Coming soon you will be able to view the aggregate data for your entire network also.
- Subscribe to your metrics RSS - the little RSS buttons top right will give you a daily summary of your Metrics
- See Adsense data - and we will support other ad systems in the future.
- Search Engine Details - Find the Search Engines page, then click on the actual phrase to get drill down data on each search phrase
See more about Performancing Metrics features in our Guided Tour
We have started the Metrics handbook and will continue to update it to add detail and explain new features as they arrive. Let us know if you have problems or discuss the features over in the Metrics Forum.
Performancing Metrics is in Beta. That means that it really is in beta, we want your feedback in the forums. Feedback is greatly appreciated!, please participate in the future development of the system by actively participating in the discussion.
This system was developed for professional bloggers, and we'd like to continue the core philosophy of Performancing by inviting users to help shape the development of this service as they have done with the community in general, and Performancing Firefox.
Anyone is welcome to use Performancing Metrics, but we would particularly welcome feedback from our core audience, those bloggers making income from blogging.
Spread the Word!
We would like to call on you for help getting the word out far and wide about our new tool. We're very proud of it, and we'd like as many people to know about it as possible.
Please post about it, tell us what you think from your own blogs. Together we can make this tool better for everyone by gaining critical mass as quickly as possible.

Thanks!
This is great! :)
Nice launch :-)
Nice launch :-)
Yea... But...
I know. Sometimes, some people can't be satisfied.
I have one footer for all pages on my blog. I'm not going to maintain two separate footers just to utilize your metrics system. I'd like to use Performancing Metrics however, so how can this be accomplished with a four code snippet system?
There is different tracking
There is different tracking scripts for each blog system we support. So firstly, I need to know what system you are trying to use?
It's easy though, if you dont want the advanced features, IE comment tracking, just choose "other" and you'll get the generic one code snippet.
oaf357 pm me which blog you
oaf357 pm me which blog you are talking about and I will take a look or we can move to the support forum. It is fine this scenario because I am doing it on mine but I need to see your situation before giving general advice. We need more info as 99% of blogs use the same footer on all pages and metrics works fine so need to know what your exact problem is.
Commentary....
Ok, so someone has already Dugg Performancing Metrics, so if you have an account, show some support! :)
I also bookmarked this page at delicious, so likewise, a helping hand would be appreciated.
Come on guys, lets have a little demonstration of the power of community!
Very excited!
Really looking forward to using this. I'll definitely write it up on my blog.

Well Done. Bravo. And Feature Request
Great job Performancing team. You guys have done some impressive work in a short amount of time.
Now, without actually seeing any data yet, I have some feature requests that I would like to throw into the discussion.
I look forward to more great things.
Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the feedback guys, definitely keep ideas coming as this is what we want, we need this to be exactly what YOU want with your help
I'll second that
I was coming to comment about self-filtering. Now if I ever get any real traffic, it may not matter any more, but right now I probably click on things as often as visitors. If that's not possible, at least being able to see the IP addresses would be nice because then I could subtract out my pageviews.
Great Work
Excellent features! This is what a blogger needs. I've just added my blog and will wait for an hour to see the stats appear. Thanks.
Nick, support is rolling in :-)
I just digged it and blogged it and double del.icio.us-ed it :-)
Everybody proudly using it should not forget to add that cute performancing button in their 'powered by' linkroll!
Now I just need that p.com baseball hat :-)
Hmm, I could dig out my old fark.com account ...
Thanks Markus and anyone
Thanks Markus and anyone else who is help promoting it, we appreciate it
really nice
I'm liking the looks of this so far
Nice works guys
Nice works guys. I have just added to one my Wordpress blog and looking forward to see result. I think it will take 24-48 hrs before one can see reasonable amount of information.
Depends on how popular your
Depends on how popular your blog is, heh
Nice indeed
I just hope it doesn't slow-down my site.
After one hour, the first metrics started. Looking forward to the next couple of days
We have worked very very
We have worked very very hard to put some kick ass server infrastructure in place and tested on some high traffic blogs. Let us know how you get on Razzi
Screenshots?
Anybody got screenshots? I wouldn't like to install Beta, at least not right now, but still would like to have a look.
Or could you open public access to some demo site stats? ;)
Darrens review has some
Darrens review has some screenshots until we get some up on here. I am doing some for the handbook
It seems to work fine
But how 'real-time' is it? I got 3 comments between now and 20 minutes ago (wordpress mails me as soon as I have a comment), but they didn't show up in the metrics (yet)
Visitor stats
# of visitors and geography is by # of sessions. But language, browsers, platforms, and screen rez is by page views? I got 6 visitors yet the last 4 metrics under 'visitors' show 8. Shouldn't all these be grouped by sessions? Or am I missing something obvious here?
You can physically see
You can physically see updates every hour razzi. It's a tradeoff to do with not slowing sites its installed on down....
outbound links
In the graphic for Outbound Links, I am shown 3. When I click through, the figure is 1. Can you explain what the difference between these two figures is?
Also, is it possible to permanently get rid of my blog's URL showing in the Comment field every time I try to add a comment?
It's awesome. It's cool that
It's awesome. It's cool that it's catered specifically towards blogs, so the data is actually useful.
I would love self-filtering as well.
Excellent - Totally Cool stuff!
Love the new Metrics. I especially like the ability to use it on multiple blogs.
Only one small suggestion, and I know its been mentioned a lot, but self-filtering would be great as I could have an accurate count of visits.
Thanks for a swell job . . God Bless
Help
I love what you have created here.
However, I needed some help. I use wordpress - online version. Online, wordpress does not allow template editing. How do I go about using Performancing Metrics? Any help and suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks!!
Unfortunately, you can only
Unfortunately, you can only install on systems where you can access the templates.
I am talking to the WP guys, and hope we'll have some way to work together in the future but for right now it's just not possible.
I'd suggest sending them feedback, or starting a thread on their forums though for sure, see if we can drum up some support for the idea...
polarmate, one is links and
polarmate, one is links and the other clicks
Wordpress.com will not allow you to edit the html of your template or add script so I am afraid until they provide that feature you can't use any tracking solution other than what they provide not just ours. I am sure they will have to relax this as every wordpress.com blog is starting to look the same
Curious
Nick,
I am curious to see how this works. I have used other metrics engine like bsuite and sitemeter and I would be very much interested in comparing this with those two.
I will get in touch with you once I get some results with performancing metrics.
This is a great idea...
Abs
Wow! Incredible Job :)
I've only been using this package for an hour and I can already tell you I love it...the seriously speedy response makes Google's Analytics look like a dinosaur, and the blogcentric approach is exactly what was needed.
Yay! I can't believe you're offering this for free...we owe you guys big time :)
Some impressions
Thanks for this tool. Some suggestions.
Thanks,
Antonio
how sweet it is
Plugins for Performancing Metrics (PMetrics, PerfMetrics?) are coming. Soon.
We tend to shorten it to
We tend to shorten it to either PMetrics or just Metrics Raj :)
Hmmm...
Its been an hour since I started following the metrics closely but performancing has detected just 1 hit while the others like sitemeter has caught 32 in the past 1 hours, bsuite has 30.
Do I need to wait for some more time before I start testing it?
abs
abs
Give it a full cycle. It's possible it just caught one hit at the end of a cycle. The stats update hourly, so give it a couple of hours and then check again.
I'm having a similar
I'm having a similar experience. I'll give a day though.
Giving it a try
PMetrics looks nice so far. Thanks for your work on this and making it available!
results
am I missing something? why am I only getting the last 5 results?
cdl512, Which report are you
cdl512, Which report are you looking at? Have you tried the dropdown that shows between 5 results and "all"?
Just implemented metrics on
Just implemented metrics on two of my blogs.
Waiting for the first statisics to come in and I will post reviews on those blogs.
Sure looks prommising.
The adsense tracking is something I love and it would be even more great if it could track it in even greater detail like ads on what page got clicked etc.
visits
ok so I am also getting bad information. according to sitemeter I am getting google traffic from more than 2 search phrases but pmetrics is only showing 2 with multiple searches for each.
Looking Good
It's certainly off to a start of real value. The self-filtering idea is badly needed .. one of the fallacies of Google Analytices as well. Seems as if you would have to dig into the user's own machine to get his/her current IP though, mine (cable modem) changes pretty frequently.
Very nice rollout ... you certainly can handle rollouts better than Google and their thousands and thousands of servers. Hats off!
Congratulations Performancing
I've been reading this blog for ages and I can't believe I only signed up for an account this evening - what mercenary motives! I only signed up a short while ago and configured Metrics for five blogs, two of which are new. I was actually holding off installing a WordPress stats package in favour of PMetrics!
Gerard McGarry
whaou!
very good, I like the concept... You will kill blogbeat, measuremap and google analytics ;)
Congratulations
Congratulations Performancing! I tried to set up an account, but after filling my information on phase 1, if I click Next, nothing happens.... Can someone help?
That probably means you are
That probably means you are missing some info, it should highlight text box in red if you have missed something
Nevermind, it's working now,
Nevermind, it's working now, thanks for your help. Actually the problem was with the tags, I entered 3 tags separated by commas and then the box was highlighted in red for some reason. I then removed the tags and left only one and it worked...
How long does it take after the installation to see the stats?
As Nick says above, wait at
As Nick says above, wait at least an hour
salute
This just in.... the blogosphere ground to a halt today as thousands of Magic Middle bloggers sat and checked their PMetrics reports (and slugged back a few brews) instead of writing and posting.
Salute - you guys have the right of it. I'm imbibing in several sips of my fave Italian-Canadian hybrid red wine :)
And yeah, I'm working on a comprehensive PMetrics plugin for WordPress. I'm on it, already. It's Ahmed's idea and he'll keep me in line.
Ah, yes, sorry: I was so
Ah, yes, sorry: I was so impatient that I didn't read the whole post ;) Thanks Chris!
Yeah, the Wordpress plugin
Yeah, the Wordpress plugin would be helpful indeed, good luck!
Time zone ...
Is that an issue you are working on? PMetrics is about six or seven hours behind my local time.
Configurable timezone
Yes it is on our list
YPN?
Adsense is great, but some of us jive with Yahoo ads. =D
strange
I am going along just fine and then all of a suden, about 4:50pm central traffic dries up. I have not had a hit from google in over an hour. the only thing I have done is add this? could it be something else? am I on crack or what?
Character support
Hi, I am not sure if it has been mentioned anywhere or not... but what is the status on foreign character support? It seems that metrics cannot handle iso-8859-2.
Otherwise this is wonderful. Thanks!
Help with Wordpress Template
I do not use a footer in my blog, so I'm having trouble putting the code in the correct spot inside my template. It is registering hits, but instead of it telling me how many hits occured on each page, I'm only seeing the title of the last post on the main page, instead of index, or any other page that it mentioned. Is there something I can do about this. My site is www.onthebaseline.com
commentor email
I have to say I'm very impressed so far. One thing I did notice is that for comments, the commentors email is displayed. I know that on my blogs, I require an email address to comment, but I don't display it. I'd imagine this wouldn't be a problem if one's metrics were not public, but it is something to consider when making that decision.
ALTexas Girl
By footer, it does not mean the bottom of your blog pages, per se. This refers to the bottom of the HTML template by which your pages are formed. You need to insert your PMetrics code just before the closing "</body>" tag of your template.
Now it depends on your blog platform, but this might be in a single template file or in something called "footer.php", or something very similar. Just find which part of your template file(s) contains the "</body></html>".
data privacy
don't mean to be an ass, but is there a link to something that covers privacy related issues---in terms of the data that is obtainable by Performancing?
Looks great, another homerun!
Thanks
Just registered
I am curious as to what metrics will come up with your tool. I will certainly benchmark it with various other tools I am curently experimenting. Good luck and I'll be telling you my comments.
Metrics is in and Analytics is out
Pretty good. I like the interface very much. A lot usable than Google Analytics.
There was a problem...
In my Metrics page I see a red circle with "There was a problem collecting data from your site"
Any suggestions?

Thanks Nick, I have done so.
Re: Problem with Wordpress
Thanks for the help - I'll play around with it and see if I can fix the problem. God bless!
Page names with Wordpress
I have installed the script in my Wordpress blog, and it is mostly working fine. But the script uses the_title() to get the title, and that function is supposed to be used inside "the Loop" according to the Wordpress Codex. The footer is outside the loop, so it seems to give the title of the first post on the page, which is not the title for the whole page. This works fine for single post pages, but on pages listing multiple posts it is misleading.
This is a great stats counter, and I am using it on all my blogs!

Great thread, but this has to be put to bed now.
There is a whole forum for Metrics support so feel free to post there after doing a search to see if your questions has already been answered 17 times.
Cheers!
