I am currently going through the trials and tribulations of deciding upon colour schemes for various new blogs I'm working on. It's a traumatic see saw process of changing my mind from one day to the next. Of course a good designer will advise you on this, but it is quite often something that I like to kick around myself.

It's also something that can be deceptively important to the success of your blog.
A combination of the wrong colours can detract from your content and give your users a headache! So it was with this in mind and struggling for colour scheme inspiration that I located the following sites:

1. This free colour scheme generator was quite helpful in putting me on the right track. It probably isn't the definitive tool out there, but I found it useful nonetheless.

2. If you're willing to pay, there is even software you can purchase that may help, such as Colour Schemer. I have never used this but it seems to incorporate some quite nice features like the ability to analyze contrast/readability or to download ready made css colour schemes.

3. This other interesting tool on Krazydad, will pick out photo's from flickr that match your chosen colour scheme. Check out Andy Hagan's excellent post Using Pictures In Your Blog & Fair Use.

I'd be interested in hearing how you went about deciding your blogs colour scheme?
