Commentful is a service that watches comments/follow-ups on Blog posts, Digg submissions, Flickr pictures, and many other types of content. When ever there is an update, such as a new follow-up or comment, Commentful notifies you instantly.

Commentful comes with a the "Commentful blinker", an extension for Firefox that blinks and notifies of any updates to the watchlist. All items are checked for updates every minute.

Commentful is a highly experimental service, so 100% compatiblity with all sources is not guaranteed.

Highly interesting

I will be checking this out and hopefully posting about it soon at BusinessBlogWire. Thanks Kailash!

How is this different from co.mments and coComment?

Thanks!

Thanks for your interest in Commentful!

co.mments tries to scrape the comments of the sources and coComment actually "hosts" comments. But commentful is intended to watch the conversations and let you know when ever there is an update, simple and optimistic I would say.

Thank you once again.

I was under the impression

I was under the impression that coComment doesn't actually host comments - your description of Commentful is basically coComment. Track comments, notified of replies, Firefox extension, etc. So again, what makes it unique from coComment?

Re: I was under the impression

coComment uses a user registered system that only allows registered users to save comments to coComment. So, for example, if I enable coComment on my blog and then make the comment, it will save it to coComment as well as let other coComment users know of my comment. However, if I am not a user or I don't enable coComment when making the comment, it will not save to coComment and will not notify other subscribed coComment users for that post. You can only see comments from registered users. Hope that makes sense.

Commentful on the other hand will notify the user of any comment from any person as well as notify about comments and trackbacks without the need for the commenter to register to anything. It's simple and works quite well.

Thanks Brian

Thanks for the clarification Brian, I couldn't have said it any better!

Commentful destroys my

Commentful destroys my profile every time I install it. Wipes out the toolbars and removes the ability to re-build toolbar buttons for many, many other extensions. I tried it four times on a VERY stable install of Firefox. Each time it ruined my profile.

NO SALE.

Uhh..

Sorry for the inconvenience Jim, but we actually tested Commentful on different versions of Firefox on different operation systems and on different computers. It worked fine without any glitches.

Not sure what the problem is, but if you could give me a bit more details, like your browser version and your current installed extensions, I could try figuring out the problem and fixing it.

Thanks.
