How Would You Sell A Book Through Your Blog?

Yesterday we talked about the difference between pushing your blog as a shop and as a billboard.

There's plenty of advice on how to optimize the advertising on your blog (I've done several blog reboots on this) but not much in terms of turning your blog into a shop (note: see the Harry Potter experiment for another view on this).

So I'd like to put this question to the Perf community - how would you sell a book (or any other product) directly through a blog? How would your design change (if it would change), how would you change the focus of your blog (would you), etc.

To make it easier, let's take the case of a fictional poker blog that has been, until now, doing 'OK' in earnings. It's primary mode of income is through advertising (AdSense and TLA).

How do we turn this poker blog into a shop?

This is a great question and

This is a great question and one, if answered well, could create a new stream of income for bloggers. If I could create and monetize a shop on each of my sites, I'd be rich!

On another note, just like AuctionAds created a new stream of substantial income through auctions, I think that some bookseller should create a *good* ad system for selling books.
