Default People submitting articles (dup content)

I get TONS of people emailing me their travel articles.

Some are interesting and I'd like to submit them but I am worried about duplicate content.

It's likely that TR would be more of an authority than the writers actually site so it probably won't be a problem from my perspective.

I'm also going to no follow the links.

What do people think about the above?

I am not sure if this is relevant anymore to you. Have just joined and am going through the posts.

With regards to the above. Duplicate content is the second time google finds an article. Whether your PR or SERPS is higher is not relevant.

Since you are aiming to be an authority site a more sensible aproach may be to request a reference to the original article. Then reference it on your Blog, with the odd quotation, then elevate the conversation with your own contribution.

An example of one who does this very well is Jack Humphrey on his Friday Traffic Report.

If the articles have not yet been posted, then you could add them as guest authors. If they do turn out to be duplicate, only that page will be sandboxed. (I believe).

A third option would be to read it a few times, put it away, then re-write it.
