My problem is I'm working with a company that wants me to stifle my brand and build up theirs. So it's hard doing the weekend branding. The good news is that there is a company that wants to hire me because of my brand and use my name in conjunction with theirs but that's probably a couple of months from now.

If I could offer one piece of advice is not to lose your momentum. Hiring someone else to run FWJ was the biggest mistake, I think. Not only could I have used the money but soon that person was associated with the blog I took so long to build. When I had to let her go, newbies were wondering who I was. Don't slack off when it comes to your brand - even if you have to do your personal stuff late into the night, don't lose the momentum.

I don't have a ton to add here because I don't have a terribly strong brand I guess, but any notoriety I have is thanks mostly to Digg. It's worth building up an account there, you meet a lot of other people with websites, and it's a good first step to getting your name out there. Plus the more obvious benefits of being able to move traffic sometimes.

This is something I want to improve on, not a top priority for me but I know it's important.

I'm going to throw out a totally honest opinion here David. I think the people whose brands work best are those who communicate best how much they want to help others succeed. You can tell they care. Theodore Roosevelt said "Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care." My general sense from you is an inward focus, rather than an outward focus. Take your About page opening paragraph where you state the "goal of this site":

My name is David Peralty, and I created this site to organize my thoughts, opinions, and goals related to my career online. I also wanted to create a single location where people could track me that would never change, but also be more of a priority to me than just a personal blog. I will be giving out tips, tricks and ideas that I come up with as well as writing about all of my passions.

The reality is that people aren't interested in you, your career, tracking you, your passions, etc... They're interested in themselves. "What's in it for me?" is the standard question people in marketing know that the consumer is asking every time they examine a brand. Make Branding David about your readers, not about you. (which I know sounds a little funny, since the site is called Branding David) Give stuff away for free. Ask, "how can I help you?" Readers can tell very quickly whether you're out to promote and build up yourself, or whether your out to promote and build up others.

Just giving you a totally honest and objective opinion, completely well-meant.

Hello there , its really very suitable to get linked with the company , What is important is to make a contract about the brand name and registration limit to use the name, after time you may renew the agreement
