Just a quick two cents from the peanut gallery - the non-contaminated of course - I like the Hive being a smaller group. I know when I come here - I can find real feedback, honest answers and to me, that equates to my saving time and effort.

It can be a confusing world out there - trying to figure out what are the best programs, networks, applications and plugins - but when we have a place to turn where others might be able to offer their personal experience, well -- you get what I'm getting at.

It's a tough market out there - I think keeping the group smaller allowing use to have a cohesive element where we can help each other out is what's going to help Hiver's survive.

I've been majorly stressed and concerned over what the coming months are going to mean to me - I know others have to be feeling the pinch too.

I've probably been sitting next to Hart too long and am rambling, but hopefully this makes sense.

Basically - I think the Hive needs to stay as it is but with it's members offering their own tips and assistance where they can.

Personally I think the Hive should be taken further.

Opened to everyone's authors (only actual members/regulars of the Hive)

You have a multi-authored blog, run a network... your authors are welcome here. Even if your name is not SPM. Sure in the latter case Mark would have to be more tolerant in the financial aspect of the Hive, but wouldn't we all benefit of this?
Less time needed in our own internal forums and focus on one (private) forum with lots of rock stars.

I will be arrogant here: SPM editors would have the bonus of their writers joining the Hive, non-SPM editors/network owners get access to The Hive for the same regular fee and also can request (free) access for their main writers (a level-based fee can be set for new members and larger networks).

At the same time The Hive does not only attract more members and hopefully more content, but also becomes more attractive to authors considering to join, thus hopefully resulting in great new content.

    Greetings,

    SPM? I think I'm missing something ...

This sounds an interesting idea - if I've understood this right, you're suggesting that (for example) my 7 writers on my multi-author blog should be given access to the Hive, and that this, combined with everyone else's extra writers (probably lots more than my team), would be likely to bump up the input/output levels.

If this went well, it would increase the membership (though perhaps not everyone would be active), probably broaden the experience available to members to draw on, and expand everyone's networks. As you say, there would be a financial impact, though, if all these people gained access without paying the monthly fee. And I suppose you'd need to withdraw access if a writer stopped being part of the team? Or would you roll that access on - perhaps requesting payment from them as an individual, rather than as part of a team? That might be difficult to manage.

How about having a team membership scheme, offering access to X seats for $Y, as well as the single-seat membership we currently have (obviously at a discount for volume)? To be honest, though, I'm not sure I'd be able to run to taking up a multi-seat membership.

I certainly haven't done a good job of promoting the Hive, and I haven't seen other promotional activities recently - though perhaps I just haven't noticed them. Is there something more we should be doing in that area?

    Hi lucynixon,

Yes that is pretty much what I would suggest Your writers are welcome, as long as they write for you, for the same fee you pay now. This applies only to existing members, long-term, and maybe there should be a different pee depending on the number of writers/blogs a network has.
As soon as they stop writing for you they obviously lose their access, since basically you have the access rights and not them.

For new members a structure such as $10 for one member, $30 for 5 blogs/authors and $50 for up to 10 blogs/authors could be created.
