That turned out really nice!! And you would never know it was on WordPress.
Well, at least I think so.
Chris Garrett managed to take a WordPress installation, get a plugin developed, and create a really slick shopping site.
Check it out here: http://creditcardmatcher.com
I'm thoroughly impressed by what Chris has done here. Except for a few loose ends, I can't tell that this is WordPress at all.
That turned out really nice!! And you would never know it was on WordPress.
"SELECT * FROM cards ORDER BY `rating` DESC LIMIT 10 "
lol, still a few bugs there then... and looks to me like it may be some php code bolted onto wordpress rather than being a true pure wordpress install.
Still nice thoughCan't help thinking doing it from scratch in php may have been simpler though
Thanks for the heads up. Another one for the reference tin.
@David - I agree, doing it from the start with PHP *probably* would have been easier, but then the site wouldn't have the WP footprint that our friends at Google seem to give more weight in the SERPs.![]()
It's a plugin and custom theme, that SQL was me hacking about to try to get it to do extra cool stuff. Because it is built with WP it means our writer can add new pages listing particular credit cards such as "0% APR american express credit cards" and then link from her posts without knowing any code at all![]()
hmmm, perhaps I should register http://www.referencetin.com/
Go on, chuck it in your reference tin
Lob this into the reference tin for the future
etc
Just a fun wording for creative related bookmarks![]()
When I saw the site, my wheels started turning about how similar search queries could be handled using tags, maybe, instead of throwing together php/mysql hacks. Not sure.
I'm liking the site. Just out of interest, is there some requirement that WordPress is acknowledged via a link, somewhere? I'm not sure?
(Not trying to be legalistic, just wondering)
No, there is no requirement to keep the link to WordPress in.
Fair enough![]()
