    Default StumbleUpon Tipping Point

I have no idea why I am receiving an influx of people who are requesting to be my friend on StumbleUpon. I mean, it's as if I have gotten over a hump in terms of people recognizing me and wanting to be my friend.

However, when i have added these people as friends, they seem to go a little overboard with broadcasting messages letting people know of something to stumble. It's like the Social Buzz forum on Hive but at with a constant barrage of stumble this and stumble that through Stumbleupon. I've actually gone through and befriended most of those who have friended me and I am in the process of denying people who are requesting friendship.

    Anyone else experiencing something similar?

ugh ... tell me about it - Most have been good experiences, but one has been sending me stumbles starting back in January 2008 for about 5 sites .. so I get about 8 a day. It's annoying.

What's the irritating part - not the content or reciprocating - it's just the blank "send to" without even a message or .. "Hey? Can you stumble this?" or something like that.
I'm only stumbling current stuff .

Thats okay Jesse ... HIVE requests don't matter and if there were 50 a day I would still stumble them! (maybe not immediately, but I would get to them all).

As annoying as it is, I peek at this person's stumblers on these old posts and she's getting about 45-55 stumbles per post on these older articles. She's up to March now.

If I had any gumption, I should be doing the same with my own archives! lol

I used to get a bunch of stumble requests per day. I just "unfriended" the ones that were over the top - like 1-3 stumble requests a day including weekends lol. Now, I'm at 3-5 a week, which is much better

I get a few a day but don't mind as long as its good stuff as I like voting for good stuff. Occasionally I get a 'friend' sending me crap regularly or sending too much so I get rid of them. I'd expect voting for stuff those pushy people send will likely get you in a bad neighborhood with the SU algorithm. So its not just annoying its potentially damaging being their friend.

I got friended by a fairly innocent account once that bombarded me with requests at one stage. Turned out they were running a fairly large network of different blogs and self promoting like crazy, so I cut them loose. I just felt like I was working to promote their stuff.

You tend to find that the more 'important' your StumbleUpon account, the more people tend to turn up and friend you.

Twitter is awesome for traffic. Sadly I haven't been able to put much effort into it in the last few months.

I found it easiest to just requests stumbles via twitter whenever I have something worth stumbling. A few people will usually give it a stumble and that will get the ball rolling.
