Iowa City Rocks
I can attest to it Iowa City is a great city.I live in Texas now but I went to the University of Iowa. I describe it to people as a smaller Austin. I was just in Iowa City to visit last week and it was a blast.
Iowa City is a great place
I used to road trip with my friends up to Iowa City myself(all be it a dozen years ago). Describing it as a smaller Austin is a good descriptoin.
Its a great place to live and not too expensive either.
If I were closer to Iowa
If I were closer to Iowa City or were able to consider relocation, I'd try this as a possibility. Alas, I just started living in Lincoln, Nebraska. I've stopped in Iowa City several times on my way to Madison, Wisconsin and I agree with the above about it being a very nice city.
