 Comment Contest, $1000 in prizes

Submitted by chrispian on January 8, 2007 - 4:39pm in

Did the holidays leave you a little light in the wallet? Are you strapped for cash after months of spending? Well - 451 Press is here to help. We are hosting a contest that could have you walking away with $500 in your pocket on February 1st.

451 Press Comment Contest
451 Press has launched several new sites recently and decided the best way to get people to check out the new writers is to host a comment contest. This will benefit all of the writers in our network, as well as the people who participate. We are calling out to anyone and everyone to stop by one of the sites on our network and leave a quality comment. Not a spam comment that simple gets you entered in the contest, but a comment that contributes to the conversation or adds commentary to the article. Every comment made on one of our sites between now and January 31st will be entered in a random drawing for prizes. Every comment you leave will be considered an entry, so there is no limit as long as you leave quality along with quantity.

We offer a wide variety of categories for you to view. We hope that there are several sites here that interest you. We also hope to launch 40 more before the end of the month, so check back regularly to find writers.

Note: Every site in our network is eligible for this contest except 451press.com.

Prizes:
We will award six prizes to the six randomly chosen comments from this month. There will be one (1) $500 cash prize and five (5) $100 cash prizes. We will contact the winning commenters using the email address they enter with the comment. Comments made through January 31st will be entered in the contest and the winners will be announced on February 1st.

451 Press writers are not eligible to win this contest.

Update and basic change to Movable Type 3.2 blog

Submitted by RJ on January 3, 2007 - 3:06pm in

I looking to change the set up of my blog on MT3.2 to try and clear out more 'real estate' for potential monetizing options. It is not a major shake-up and probably, would suit someone looking for or able to handle a small part-time job.

Any takers?

 Graphic Designer Wanted for Performancing.com

Submitted by Nick Wilson on September 13, 2006 - 10:42am in

We're looking to hire a talented graphic designer to work immediately on Performancing.com projects such as the main site, our forthcoming ad network and other odd bits and pieces when they come up.

The job itself is 'ad hoc' -- no retainer, no fixed fee, just a commitment to forward regular work your way provided you can always fit our jobs in, and have the time and skill to get them done quickly for us.

Ideally you would...

  • Be able to take jobs when they occur and quickly turn them around if small (the odd buttun/pic etc) or fit us into your schedule quickly with larger jobs.
  • Have a proven track record for good work -- must be able to show examples.
  • Have worked on relevant projects -- ie, have a good idea of what works with blogs and web2.0 applications
  • XHTML/CSS skill would be a bonus, but not essential.
  • Preferably be a member of the Performancing community -- we'd prefer to hire someone we know, but it's not essential.

I'll discuss rates with you, and you'll start on a trial period to see if both parties are happy working together.

Ultimately, we're looking for an additional member of the performancing team, but just do not have enough work to offer a permenant position as yet.

All applications should include the following:

  • Your website/blog url
  • Examples of your work
  • References, or links to happy clients if possible

Please email, or PM at nick@performancing.com

 Good Cause Blogger Needs Help

Submitted by Sue Richards on August 16, 2006 - 3:11pm in

I'm an artist who has been independently publishing a beautiful, educational, fine art photography, breast cancer prevention calendar for 6 years and selling it on-line. For the last year and a half I've been blogging about my process.

My request is simple. To help drive traffic/buyers to my site, I need links. I'm hoping the Performancing blogging community will help me in this regard by linking to one of my sites.

My web site url is www.breastofcanada.com.

My Calendar Girl Blog url is calendargirl.breastofcanada.com

My ready made banner page is www.breastofcanada.com/banners.html

I will be happy to link back to you.

I do not get paid to do this project. Net proceeds go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Network. All money goes toward education. And yes, the calendar does have photos of breasts.
