cutline template hacks?

hello,

would anyone be able to help me in my quest to customize this template? i can't work out which tag denotes the "content" or "container" tags (i am very new to CSS.)

anyway, i just want to widen the post body part of the template and put a black or whitespace behind the text. this seems like it would be easy if i could work out what part of the code corresponds to the design.

is anyone familiar with this one?
