Multiple authors and product testing

Hello,-

I am a relatively novice blogger, and would like to make clear the following two questions:

1) How does one establish an an online blog / magazine with multiple authors / contributors of content? (Example: Engadget). That is, what terms & conditions does one offer to writers so that they are interested in writing to one's blog, and how does one find the writers?

2) When one's blog is about testing products and reviewing them on the blog (again, Engadget is a good example), is it considered good practice to actually invest in the product that one wants to review to try it out personally before reviewing?

Thanks beforehand,

yeah

Thanks, Marcel. Very helpful article, but also confirms how hard it is to break into some niches

Velocity and Money

There are a number of things to consider here, but the main thing to start out with is a scope of what you want to do, how long is acceptable to achieve it and identify how much cash you have to start to balance out the first two items.

If you have cash, you can hire writers. No cash, then you have to attract them based on who you know, your vision and your ability to earn revenue and pay them soon.

There's a velocity to ramp up factor essentially. If you want to slowly build things up, then you will have pleanty of time to network and find writers. If you want to be at full speed in 3-6 months, you are going to need lots of programming no how, money, and contacts.
