PR5 Web 2.0 Blog For Sale (Betaflow.com)

Submitted by walesmd on September 5, 2007 - 2:08pm in

I am looking to sell Betaflow.com. Starting bid is $500.

Overview

The Web 2.0 blogging industry has been popularized by numerous websites, like TechCrunch.com and Mashable.com. Many startups work long hours marketing their application to Web 2.0 blogs that have an established rapport within the community and Betaflow.com is your chance to get in on the action. The new owner of this blog will not only be receiving traffic and income, but also influence. You will be invited to closed beta tests and conferences.

Betaflow.com launched on 20 July 2005, although a database fault earlier this year places the oldest article on 26 March 2007. The domain was recently renewed and is valid until 20 July 2008 (via GoDaddy).

Web Design

Developed on the Wordpress platform (upgraded to v2.2.2) using the BloggingPro Theme and the following plugins: Akismet, Google Sitemaps, Litebox Plugin, Most Commented, Recent Comments, Recent Posts, Related, Simple Tagging, Subscribe 2.

There are multiple advertising units: 3 - 125x125 units within the sidebar on every page, 1 - 468 x 60 unit within the header on every page, and 1 - 468 x 60 unit below each post.

The Betaflow Codex highlights 46 companies that Betaflow.com has covered in the past and does an excellent job of linking users to numerous posts within the site.

Profits

Currently, all profits come from self-sold advertising slots. The following prices were established to increase inventory and are not indicative of what you could earn: 125x125 home page only ($40/mo), 125x125 cross-site ($100/mo), 468 x 60 home page only ($120/mo), 468 x 60 cross-site ($400/mo), 468x60 post ($80/mo).

The AdSense units currently filling unsold slots (view a post to see them) have returned minimal income. I should have looked into text links long ago as I think they could provide a great return on this site.

All current advertising contracts end on 11 Sep 07 and will not be renewed pending sale. I will be more than happy to pass advertisers contact information on to you as well.

Traffic

Betaflow.com has averaged 1,500 uniques per month - despite numerous digg, dzone, and reddit spikes, this level of traffic has been consistent. No advertising has been paid for; all traffic is organic.

Search Engines account for 50% of the incoming traffic, referrals 40%, and 9% direct. Most popular search terms for Betaflow.com point to the Betaflow Codex: hotmailcom, youtubecom, facebookcom.

Some traffic comes in thanks to a theme I released in December of 2005 (WPAndreas03). Unfortunately, because of the database fault that post is no longer available, but this landing page could be effectively marketed and return greatly on advertising.

Bidding

Paypal or Check accepted. Public bids preferred, private bids will be accepted (amount will be revealed for auction purposes). Bidding starts at $500, Buy It Now @ $2,000.

Questions

I am available for questions/concerns at webmaster[at]michaelwales -dot- com. Any questions I deem relevant to other bidders will be posted within this auction.

Questions and Answers

Q: Could you please provide with an history of your income so far?
Income has been a steady $1,200 every 3-months for the past 6 months. This is off of the sole-sale of advertising at various reduced rates to increase ad inventory. AdSense has not performed well at all for me but I really think a text link solution could pay off exponentially if utilized correctly. Especially in the Codex, where terms like Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, etc. are generating the majority of the inbounds.

Q: Do you have an history of your statistics?
Statistics in regards to... traffic? Traffic has been pretty steady at 1.5K uniques per month.

wow

I was just going to bid. Ah well, congrats :)

I had never heard of

I had never heard of Betaflow until this sale. Looks like a solid site that I would have been reading regularly had I known it existed.

I'm interested to see what the new owners will do with it. I wonder if they need writers? ;)
