Blog Investing

Submitted by Ryan Caldwell on June 28, 2007 - 2:42pm in

I'm looking to invest between $15,000 and $30,000 in a tier-2 or tier-3 blog in the hopes of moving it to the next level.

Requirements:

  1. Blog must receive at least 10,000 unique visitors per day or $1500 in revenue per month
  2. Blog must be at least 6 months old
  3. Current owner must provide details of how he or she plans to use the investment money to increase the blog's reach and revenue

Terms of Agreement:

With all investments, I want my money to work, not me. The only work I will do is upfront in evaluating the worthiness of a blog and its potential for growth.

My preferred method is to invest approximately 20% of a site's value, to build in a (principle + 25%) buyout option for the current owner and in return receive 20% of site profits over 3-5 years.

If a site is worth $100,000 then I like to come in at around $20,000, receive 20% of the profits, and give the owner the option of buying out my investment at any time for $25,000.

If you have a successful blog, have a plan for making it more successful, and feel that you could execute your plan more quickly with an investment, please get in touch with me at ryan@performancing.com
