How to Get Your Blog to a PR 6

Submitted by Jason Parker on February 11, 2008 - 4:06am in

Hey all. This is my first time posting here in a while.

Something interesting happened to me today that compelled me to jump on Performancing late at night. I took a look at an old make money online blog I had abandoned back in fall of 2007 and come to find out it's sitting at a PR 6. So what happened? I got that baby back up and churning today.

There are about 5 possible reasons why this blog is at a PR 6. Keep in mind that I worked very hard on it for about 7 months and it's been sitting generating incoming links still.

#1. It could all be a Google glitch.

#2. Commenting on 5+ different quality blogs per day for 7 months straight adds up in backlinks!

#3. Wieseling my way onto a few pages of top blogs from taking part in contests and getting the occasional guest blog accepted helped tremendously in getting high PR backlinks from the main index pages as well as single pages.

#4. I submitted my blog to be included on around 10 free website directories around PR 4/5.

#5. A viral linking campaign started by Bryan Clark at One Man's Goal is still collecting links for my blog to this day, even though they are usually on low quality blogs. You can learn about viral linking campaigns by downloading Nick Stewart's new free ebook on generating traffic.

Right click and select "Save Link As" to Download

I personally wrote that section for Nick's 2008 Traffic Strategy Guide.

Anyway everybody... I just thought I'd share with you a few "secrets" of why I think my site is at a PR 6 along with the big dogs. Had I known all my hard work was actually paying off, I might even be at a PR 7 by now.

Hope this helps some of you.

My old advice used to be "Just blog. Just guest blog, write posts, and comment on others' blogs." I guess I should have stuck with my own advice!

Thanks for reading.

All the best,

Jason Parker

My original blog at the current location had a PR5 before I even knew what it meant. But by the time I had discovered what it meant, it was too late. I had moved the blog away and recreated the current one. Woops!

viral campaigns are HIGHLY under-rated

That viral campaign from One Man's Goal blew up, it got me soooooooo many links. They still trickle in here and there. Its cool also that 3 of my blogs were included. Sweet!

I'm glad i joined it when i did. If done right, Viral Meme Campaigns are GREAT for backlink building.
