Metalunderground.com, a top heavy metal news site, is looking for self-motivated writers, who are also heavy metal fans, to contribute to one or more areas of the site: news, CD/DVD reviews, live show reports and interviews (live, phone, and/or email).
News contributors must be tech-savvy (able to leverage RSS, MySpace and minimal HTML) and should be able to contribute a few articles several times a week.
Reviewers (CD/DVD/Live Shows) and interviewers should be articulate and knowledgeable about the various subgenres of heavy metal (or as least the ones they enjoy most) and not afraid to do a little research. We're in particular need of writers who are fans of power metal or hair metal, but fans of any style of metal music are welcome.
Opportunities to write opinion pieces and columns are available for frequent contributors who are interested.
All positions require rock-solid grammar and writing skills and a love for metal music. English and journalism majors, editing experience, and/or being in touch with your local metal scene are all pluses.
Metalunderground.com shares site profits with its contributors each year based on number and quality of contributions, but it's not enough to be considered a paying job at this time. Other perks include free CDs or MP3s (for review), concert tickets and photo passes (for show reports), the chance to meet and interview some of your favorite heavy metal artists, and good experience writing for the web. For true fans of metal, this should be a fun and interesting opportunity to write about and cover a topic you enjoy.
We're happy to work with and around freelance writers' and journalists' schedules, so long as you can actually make time in your schedule each week to contribute to Metalunderground.com as well.
Please contact us via our contact form if interested (and let us know where you saw this opportunity posted).
