two days ago I chatted with my friend doz using skype. once again she told me that she is not able to download the extra-tools presented by skype. so I tried to download some of them. ´first I took the drawingboard which was installed smoothly and worked without problems. the second one in the list is that crazy-avatar-thing which created some kind of warning while the laptop downloaded it. think it was a warning by the firewall but I didn't read it because I was busy with chatting with doz and usually there does not happen anything although there are warnings. this time my habbit to trust skype caused a fatal error somewhere and I do not have any access to the internet from my laptop further on... I cannot find any wrong setting.. nothing.
skype is still running smoothly, the wlan-connection is brilliant and the PC which uses the same router works without problems which means it must be some kind of error only effecting the laptop's firefox and IE - the browsers. so what???? any idea out there?
I tried to use the internal XP-recovery two times. each one using another reference-point 1 march and 27 february when everything was fine. but it didn't make a change, everything stood the same...
There is a punch of data I do not want to loose but on the ohter hand I cannot burn or transfer e.g. the fotos from the harddisk of the laptop. since I've bought it, copying fotos always failed and upto now I couldn't find out why. so I will loose all the fotos when I run the recovery-program, isn't it?
I think I will have to start recovery tomorrow and I hope that I will be able to bring the internet-browsers on the laptop to live once again.
Have I commented that I do not have any idea of handling XP? I know enough to handle my old PC with win98 and the usual bugs happening there but XP seems to me like opening pandoras box. touching it once it can only get worse...
so what?
