I would really like to seem some sort of an alternative out there to Akismet. I run a few blogs and when I started looking at the "spam" folder one day, I say a lot of very relevant, well thought out posts that I would certainly have wanted in the discussion. I realize you can "train" you Akismet installation, but why should you have to. I don't want to go through all my spam just to find the dozen or so "false positives". There has to be a better way.

I've been thinking of doing a roundup of the different commenting services. I suppose its high time I do that.

Jeff, maybe it's time to list all the available external comment tracking solutions.

My vote will always go to a meta comment service which collects and orders comments by article, subject, user, etc.

I highly doubt IntenseDebate will be forced upon users. The only exception may be WordPress.com blogers who may see a direct integration of the service. As for WordPress.org, looks like they will develop a full featured plugin that will take advantage of everything IntenseDebat has to offer. As for Akismet, I'm not sure if this will affect that services use or not.

It should be interesting to see what will happen. Will users be forced to use IntenseDebate or will there be an option.

What about IntenseDebate and Akismet?
